My Vintage Bathroom: The Reveal

April 18, 2012
I like it, maybe I love it.

It doesn't even have a shower (not to worry, second bathroom has shower only). Just a deep, vintage tub, and not even a claw foot one. It has bright coral tile. It has a 10' built in vanity, yet only one sink, a wall mount sink.

I have considered changing it, removing the tile and putting up beadboard in its place. Re-doing the tub and adding a shower, and replacing the vanity.

We are not rich, but we could have re-done the bathroom. Truthfully, the coral grew on me. Now, I can't imagine the house without my coral bathroom.

I have had this house since 1989, so I am going to share older photos of the bathroom in white and coral, and mint green and coral, and it's current color scheme, yellow, blue and coral. (I couldn't find photos of the peach flowered wall paper in the bathroom when I purchased it)

The white and coral bathroom:
Some of my vintage powder tins and vanity jars are already purchased and in place, the old curling iron is in the vintage oil lamp. The silver pieces are gone. They tarnished way too fast in the bathroom.

Look at my younger daughter's potty chair! She graduates from high school this year. The baby dresses have already been added to the bathroom, the one on the left my older daughter's, the one on the left, my baby dress.

I have a few headvases, not very many, and I displayed glass perfume bottles in an old sewing drawer with a vintage hand mirror. Also an older crystal lamp is in the bathroom.

The coral and mint green bathroom:

The sewing drawer is moving around. Plates and saucers on this side's corner built-ins.

My vintage vanity chair has a toile seat too. The bakelite green mirror fell victim to overuse by teenaged girls and the handle cracked. It's gone.

My powder tin and vanity jar collection is growing. Also more head vases.

Here I had blue toile runners. I picked up the vintage green handled bakelite button hook at a garage sale.

My current bathroom, yellow on top, coral tile and a blue, distressed built in vanity:

Come on in!

I have built in corner shelves on two walls with head vases. A Hall's Quality floral tea pot is on the top.

This pair of blue and pink willow plates hangs on each side of the vanity light strip.

The vintage powder tins.

My vintage wall mount sink. (You actually have to special order these faucet replacement handles)

Above the sink, reproduction French tin signs and cherubs.

These sweet little cherubs are marked Norcrest, made in Japan.

This is the other side of the wall sink.

Royal Copley pitcher and faux tulips.

The distressed blue vanity with the mint green showing through.

My vanity chair with French Script fabric.

The vanity area. (We each have our own hygiene items drawer.)

The large storage drawers in the built ins. (Perfect for toiletries and even towels)

My daughter's dress and my baby dress.

A framed hanky over the toilet.

I hope you enjoyed the tour! You have to admit it's pretty
unique!

  1. I like the current yellow walls best with the coral tile. And the sink is wonderful. I know all about custom ordering faucets for vintage fixtures. But they were made to last! Your collections make the room come alive.

  3. I love it! I love yellow first of all and your powder tins and I'm glad you left your bathroom tiles and fixtures. I really don't think the quality is there in the new stuff like it was "back in the day". Those little dresses are so sweet and the potty chair! LOL! Beautiful job and a lot of work on your part!
